Aldo Mondino: master of phantasmagoria

Starting from November 20, 2010, the MACA (Museum of Contemporary Art of Acri) will dedicate a solo show to the great Turinese artist Aldo Mondino; one of the most eclectic artists of his generation, amongst the main protagonists of the amazing creative season of Sixties Turin. Versatile, equipped with a wide and profound international culture, a wry eye capable of giving birth to elegant and refined puns, and, most of all, a insatiable curiosity, Mondino never ceased to reinvent himself and his art throughout his career. His artistic journey has been marked by a continuous flow of inspirations and influences, which the artist was able to absorb, metabolize, and subsequently present again through his unique and unmistakable style; from the first steps moved in the Parisian atelier of the expressionist and surrealist painter William Heyter, and the studies on mosaic under the guidance of the futurist artist Gino Severini, passing through a citationist period characterized by a strong Pop Art allure, and the subsequent orientalism of the Seventies, to the boldest and most imaginative experimentations of his sculpture.
